Name & Date Plates for Bronze Markers
To request a design and quote for a bronze plate:
- Measure the height and width of the bronze scrolls as accurately as possible.
- Determine if there have been screw holes already drilled into the blank area of the plaque in preparation for a new plate. Often there will be screws installed to protect the holes from filling with dirt and debris. Measure the distance between the screws or screw holes, center to center. This must be precise to assure that the new scroll can be successfully attached.
- If there are no screws or screw holes in the blank space, then take the measurements center to center of the screw holes in an existing scroll plate. In this case, there may be drilling required when it comes time to install the new scroll plate.
- Measure the height of the tallest letter or number on an existing scroll.
- Take as many pictures as you can of the entire plaque as well as close-ups of the scrolls. The color or shade of the bronze will be the hardest part to accurately match so the more pictures the better.
Here’s what NOT to do:
- Don’t take measurements in a decimal or metric format. Stick to inches with fractions, preferably in 1/16″ increments
- Don’t send us pictures with a ruler or tape measure on top of the plaque. (This will not help.)
